Who We Are
Khambatta Dance Company (KDC) connects artists and audiences through the exploration of contemporary issues, emotionally resonant performances, and a collaborative process of dance creation. KDC tours nationally and internationally, intentionally cultivating networks of support with other dance artists.
Since 2006, the Seattle International Dance Festival, KDC’s signature program, unifies communities and celebrates the city’s neighborhoods by showcasing the work of local, regional, national and international dance artists who exemplify the diversity of contemporary dance.
"daunting themes are harmoniously translated"
“Daunting Themes are harmoniously translated by [Artistic Director] Cyrus Khambatta. Equally beautiful was the minimal set design, which was perfectly accompanied by the matching lighting design and of course the excellent dancers. They convinced with highly technical precision: their dance was exact and syncopated, very graceful and simply stunning.”

The Company
KDC is a seven‑member contemporary dance company led by Artistic Director Cyrus Khambatta. The dancers collaborate in creating the work presented in Seattle while serving as cultural ambassadors for the city. They tour internationally, often offering audiences their first experience of contemporary dance from Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.
Selected for their strong technical ability and diverse artistic backgrounds, the ensemble brings a wide range of skills to the company. Together with its board, KDC reflects meaningful racial diversity, with over half of its members identifying as POC or biracial.
